A man who lost an arm in a freak accident has had his stump transformed by a tattoo artist into the head of a dolphin.
Heine Braeck, 33, hated his stump, caused by a childhood accident on a train track. The Norwegian realised the shape of his stump was identical to a dolphin’s head. So he asked Bulgarian artist Valio Ska to turn the stump into a 3D tattoo, with amazing results. Valio spent over three hours on the meticulous ink job.
Heine said: “When I was 13 I tried to take a shortcut across the top of a stationary train which started moving. “I lost my balance and grabbed hold of the wire that powers the train and got fried. “The first thing I saw after surgery was how much my arm was shaped like a dolphin’s head. “I finally decided to do something about it and got in touch with Valio and arranged to have the tattoo done. “My friends think it is awesome and I love it because I don’t have to look at a tired old stump anymore.”

View Larger This tattoo is super special, my artist and I have been meaning to get around to it for MONTHS and we finally did, it turned out so awesome! It’s my actual wisdom tooth that I had removed last year. The procedure was gnarly as hell, it took two hours and I had seven anesthetic injections. I thought she was going to dislocate my jaw! I had to be cut in half to get taken out and I had three stitches after. I got to keep my beautiful tooth and because of my intense appreciation for the beauty of teeth I wanted to get a tattoo of one, but not just any tooth, MY tooth. I gave the tooth to my tattoo artist to study and draw for a few months and he got it spot. on. It’s a perfect drawing of one half of it. It’s upside down if you can’t tell, but I love it!
It was done by Ali Selliman at Custom Collective Tattoos in Hamilton, New Zealand.

View Larger This is my first tattoo, still fresh at the time. It says “Vem har lurat alla barnen?”, which is swedish and means “Who has fooled all the children?”.
This question is opposed to the society’s demands of the individual’s way of life; how we are expected to behave, how to look, how to walk & talk and so on. To me it is about finding the strength to once in a while stand up and say ‘What the f*ck’, I’m not gonna starve myself to look a sertain way for someone else, I’m not gonna let a meaningless job carve a hole in my brain and I’m definitely not gonna let any worries of “perfection” shadow my life and happiness. It’s hard to break free from the railway and I’ve got some painful years on my neck, but everytime I look at this tattoo I’m reminded to take a moment and catch some love, in whatever form it may reveal it self.
And the moment society fooled us we also kind of lost the most important ingredient in life - Respect. I want to get it back.
It is made by Daniel Norin at Swahili Bob’s tattoo and piercing, in Stockholm.
