The Explorer’s Menagerie, Graphite and Digital Media, 2012.
An assignment for my intro class. We had to make a fictional circus. This is based on an explorer who ran out of money and had to call in people he met during his travels to put on a show to help fund his next expedition.
German artist Babis Cloud created a Trojan horse that’s completely made up of key caps from old computer keyboards. The recycled keys weren’t collected anyhow, but arranged to create gradients of ivory-white, in order to replicate the famous horse that’s referred to in Homer’s Odyssey and originally mentioned in Virgil’s Aeneid.
After 13 months of work, Miquel Barceló finally reconstructs the image of a mirage he hallucinated during a hot day in Africa. He claims the art painted on the ceiling of the UN’s Palace of Nations in Genevarepresents, “the world melting towards the sky.”
“Thousands of years of cultural tradition encourage us to bed just one other human until the day we die. Five seconds of pop culture encourage us to bed anyone that makes our parts the slightest bit warm. We must find a compromise.”
A large mirror Installation that appears to merge into the surrounding space. by revealing a perfectly euclidical core, the visitor becomes the spatial focal point by moving on a swing through the vivid conceived environment. despite its large dimensionality, it creates a disorientating moment where the surrounding room translates a physical reflection, translating the viewer’s body into an imaginary reflection.
The vase is the results of a harmonious meeting between computer technology and French high quality craftsmanship. Available in 3 sizes, the vase is composed of two parts in borosilicate glass: the main part and a small cup which receives water. Limited edition of 21 pieces.
